As most guitarists and studio musicians already know, it is virtually impossible to record natural sounding guitar tracks
via the output jack (preamp out, line output, recording output or speaker output) of any guitar amp. The warm sound desired by most
guitarists can only be created by the speaker of a good sounding guitar amp being mic'd in the right environment. Direct amplifier outputs
sound fake, fuzzy and extremely harsh. The AxeTrak® alleviates this problem by allowing the user to connect
directly from the speaker jack of their guitar amp to the input jack of the AxeTrak®. The output of the AxeTrak® is then plugged into a recording console, mixing board or computer soundcard using a standard low impedance microphone
cable. This method of recording allows you to get a direct signal that includes the preamp tubes as well as the power tubes if using a
tube amp. This is very important if you are a tone freak like most guitarists. The AxeTrak® is hand made and
assembled right here in the USA. Built the old fashion way, with pride and attention to detail, one unit at a time.
What is the AxeTrak®?
The AxeTrak® is a valuable production tool that allows the engineer,
producer, or player a means to quietly capture the unique characteristics of their individual guitar sound. This compact electronic
enclosure is capable of producing natural sounding rhythms and screaming lead guitar tones when plugged into a mixing board, soundcard, or
recording console. Don't let the compact size fool you! The AxeTrak® is fuse-protected and will handle
approximately 75 watts RMS of power. The AxeTrak® works perfectly with any 15 - 100 watt RMS guitar amplifier that
can drive an 8 ohm load. However, it is not designed to handle high-power guitar amplifiers cranked at full volume like a power
attenuator. Instructions for high-power use are clearly explained in the user manual and on our
FAQ's page
. The enclosure is made out of high quality, hardwood plywood for a warm tight sound, and is covered with heavy-duty, charcoal gray
speaker carpet for non-suffocating sound dampening and long lasting durability. The heavy-duty 6" driver used in the AxeTrak® is custom made for our unique application. The sound is converted into an electrical signal with the use of a dynamic
microphone cartridge, which has been carefully selected and modified exclusively for this device. This cartridge is securely mounted and
its postition can be easily adjusted by turning a simple thumbscrew mounted on the top of the unit. When the screw is turned
counterclockwise the microphone will be placed in the same position as the previous fixed microphone model. When the screw is turned
clockwise the mic will be closer to the speaker and direct on axis. This feature gives the user incredible flexibility as to how they wish
to record their guitar tracks.
Now you truly can record the sound of your guitar rig 24/7 without disturbing your neighbors. No
professional or home studio should ever be without this device.
